Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: How do I match with another user?
A: To match with another user:
- Open the NoteNote app
- You'll see a 6-character matching code (e.g., "ABC123")
- Share this code with your partner
- Your partner enters your code in the "Enter Partner Code" field
- Tap "Match" to create a connection
- Once matched, you can start sharing notes!
Note: Matching codes expire after 30 seconds. If your code expires, tap the refresh button to generate a new one.
Q: Can I scan a QR code to match?
A: Yes! NoteNote supports QR code scanning:
- Tap the QR code icon in the matching screen
- Allow camera access when prompted
- Point your camera at your partner's QR code
- The app will automatically match you
Q: How long does a match last?
A: Matches in NoteNote are temporary by design. You choose how long the match stays active:
- On the matching screen, select a duration between 1 and 12 hours
- The match automatically expires when the selected time ends
You can also manually end a match at any time by tapping "End Match".
Q: Can I create drawings or just text notes?
A: NoteNote supports both text notes and drawings:
- Text Notes: Tap "Text" and type your message
- Drawings: Tap "Drawing" to open the drawing canvas. You can draw with your finger or Apple Pencil (if available)
Both types of notes are shared in real-time with your matched partner.
Q: Why am I not receiving push notifications?
A: To receive push notifications:
- Make sure you've granted notification permissions when the app first asked
- Check your device Settings → NoteNote → Notifications
- Ensure "Allow Notifications" is enabled
- Make sure your device is connected to the internet
If you're still not receiving notifications, try restarting the app or your device.
Q: How does the widget work?
A: The NoteNote widget shows your latest note on your home screen:
- Long press on your home screen
- Tap the "+" button in the top-left corner
- Search for "NoteNote"
- Select the widget size you prefer
- Tap "Add Widget"
The widget automatically updates when you or your partner creates a new note.
Q: Can I delete my notes?
A: Yes, you can delete your own notes:
- Open the note you want to delete
- Tap the delete button (trash icon)
- Confirm the deletion
Note: You can only delete notes that you created. You cannot delete notes created by your partner.
Q: What happens to my data when a match expires?
A: When a match expires:
- The channel becomes inactive
- You can no longer send new notes to that partner
- Your note history may be removed from active systems after a period of time
- You can start a new match with the same or a different partner at any time
Q: Is my data secure?
A: Yes, we take your privacy and security seriously:
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Data is stored securely using Firebase (Google's secure cloud infrastructure)
- Only you and your matched partner can see your shared notes
- We do not share your data with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy
Q: Can I use NoteNote on multiple devices?
A: NoteNote works on a per-device basis.
If you install NoteNote on multiple devices, each device will have its own matches.
Matches and notes are not synced automatically across your devices.
